The ONES Who became Muslim by bribe

Malik Ibn-Ayf was the commander-in-chief of those who fought against Muhammed. In 630, at Huneyn, or known as *Heyazin War he had been beaten by the Muslims. The War which occured *between Mekke and Taif Valley was done by the tribes Heyazin and Sakif of Arabians and Muslims. Malik Ibn Ayf went to Taif by leaving Huneyn. He was himself *an enemy of Islam. But he found the suggestion interesting. Because the suggestion had been coming from the Prophet. If he became muslim, all of his properties and his family who are prisoner would have been given back to him, he wouldn’t have been punished what s more he would have been given 100 camels, lastly he would have been authorized in the management. He accepted it immediately and became Muslim.

According to Buhari, translator Kamil Miras, this suggestion was an “exraordinary prophecy generosity.”

But according to Taberi, which is one of a *main interpretation, this was completely “bribe.” (source: Camiu’l-Beyan fi interpretation of Quran c.10, s.141 )

The ones who were bribed: “Müellefetül’l-Kulup”

Müellefetü’l Kulup”, implies the ones whose heart were attracted and hardened *by Islam. After the War of Heyazin, the hearts of the ones who were powerful and dominant were wanted to be attracted to the Islam. The best way was to give some pieces of spoils. Besides there was a spoil. And also the spoils which had been taken till that time were as much as never seen similar. They were;

*6000 women,
*24000 camels,
*40000 sheeps and goats,
*4000 okiyye (5120 kg) silver.( source: Sahih-i Buhari)

The prophet knew very well who were more effective and more influential among the members of the tribe. For Müellefetü’l Kulup, in that he chosed the ones who whould be bribed.

What does Islam jurists say?

According to fakih* of the Maliki sect these were infidels who were wanted to encourage to became muslim. To some others these were ones who were half muslims. But Islam hadn t settled down their hearts.

It s seen that to strengthen Islam, the door of bribe was kept open for those who were believed to be able to supply power and encourage to the Islam. *The ones who were supposed to be powerful in the society were made to take anvantage of both spoils and obligatory alms.

Because of the reason to strengthen Islam, the appropriations which was applied by the prophet to earn some people were spoils, property and camels, date palm gardens, lands and obligatory alms. *

Fakih: the one who studies Fıkıh..
Fıkıh: the deep understanding of words and acts. So this is to know which is useful and good or harmful and bad for his religion.

çocuklarımıza, gençlerimize, arkadaşlarımıza iyi kul olmayı değil de iyi insan olmayı öğretirsek ne savaş kalır ne de fesat.. çünkü iyi kul çıkarcı ve korkaktır.
